This was reported by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Bloomberg<\/span><\/span>, citing the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United States Department of Energy<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"395\" data-end=\"648\">In a statement, the department said that supplies from the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Strategic Petroleum Reserve<\/span><\/span> are part of a previously announced large-scale release of 172 million barrels of oil. The crude is expected to reach the market by the end of next week.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"650\" data-end=\"811\">Under the terms of the arrangement, companies will be required to return the borrowed oil to the Department of Energy, adding additional barrels as compensation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"1238\">Overall, the withdrawals are expected to last four months and are part of a coordinated initiative with other countries to release 400 million barrels. The move is intended to reduce prices for oil, gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, which have surged after the outbreak of the war between <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United States<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Israel<\/span><\/span> against <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Iran<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1594\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Regarding the release of 172 million barrels of oil, the Department of Energy stated that the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">White House<\/span><\/span> has already taken steps to replenish the withdrawn reserves by about 200 million barrels over the next year.
