The path is now clear for Paramount\u2019s merger with the well-known Hollywood studio.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"564\" data-end=\"896\">In the United States, the bidding war between Netflix and Paramount for Warner Bros was described as \u201ca choice between two bad scenarios.\u201d There were concerns that the streaming company would use the new asset to strike a blow against the traditional film industry by shifting audiences\u2019 focus from movie theaters to online viewing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"898\" data-end=\"1099\">However, Paramount\u2019s unexpected entry into the bidding also raised concerns among critics due to the company\u2019s alleged political ties to the administration of <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Donald Trump<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1101\" data-end=\"1380\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Paramount will cover a break-up fee of more than $2 billion that Netflix is set to receive following the collapse of the previously agreed acquisition.
