{"id":151176,"date":"2026-02-23T12:00:26","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T10:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/?post_type=news&#038;p=151176"},"modified":"2026-02-18T20:24:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T18:24:19","slug":"yaponiya-investuye-36-mlrd-u-try-proyekty-v-ssha","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/news\/novosti\/yaponiya-investuye-36-mlrd-u-try-proyekty-v-ssha\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan to Invest $36 Billion in Three Projects in the United States"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"145\" data-end=\"430\">U.S. President <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Donald Trump<\/span><\/span> has approved the first investment projects under the trade agreement with Japan announced last year, U.S. Commerce Secretary <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Howard Lutnick<\/span><\/span> said, according to <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Bloomberg<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"432\" data-end=\"587\">Earlier, Japan agreed to invest $550 billion in the U.S. economy, while the United States committed to cutting tariffs on Japanese imports from 25% to 15%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"589\" data-end=\"736\">The first projects under the agreement involve $36 billion in investments and focus on power generation, the oil and gas sector, and manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"1154\">The largest project is a gas-fired power plant near <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Portsmouth<\/span><\/span>, with investments totaling $33 billion, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Lutnick said it would be the largest \u201cgas power plant in history,\u201d with a capacity of 9.2 GW. The facility will be operated by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">SB Energy<\/span><\/span>, a subsidiary of Japan\u2019s <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">SoftBank<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1156\" data-end=\"1607\">The second project involves construction of the deepwater Texas GulfLink terminal for oil exports on the coast of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Gulf of Mexico<\/span><\/span> in Brazoria County, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Texas<\/span><\/span>. Japan will invest $2.1 billion in the project, which will be operated by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Sentinel Midstream<\/span><\/span>. The terminal is expected to enable oil exports worth $20\u201330 billion annually, or $400\u2013600 billion over 20 years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1609\" data-end=\"2092\">The third project focuses on producing synthetic diamond grit, which would fully meet U.S. domestic demand. The roughly $600 million facility will be located in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Georgia<\/span><\/span> and operated by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Element Six<\/span><\/span>, a subsidiary of <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">De Beers<\/span><\/span>. Diamond grit is a critical raw material for the semiconductor, automotive, and oil and gas industries.
