{"id":151164,"date":"2026-02-19T15:00:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T13:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/?post_type=news&#038;p=151164"},"modified":"2026-02-17T20:55:50","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T18:55:50","slug":"yes-pochav-rozsliduvannya-proty-kytajskoyi-platformy-shein","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/news\/yes-pochav-rozsliduvannya-proty-kytajskoyi-platformy-shein\/","title":{"rendered":"EU Launches Investigation into Chinese Platform Shein"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"98\" data-end=\"425\">The <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">European Union<\/span><\/span> has launched a formal investigation into the Chinese platform <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Shein<\/span><\/span> over potential violations of EU law, including the sale of illegal goods and the use of so-called \u201caddictive\u201d design features, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">The Guardian<\/span><\/span> reports.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"427\" data-end=\"607\">Last year, the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">European Commission<\/span><\/span> requested information from the company, whose sales have been rapidly growing in Europe, and has now opened a formal probe.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"742\">In addition to concerns about the possible sale of unlawful products, regulators are also examining how the platform itself operates.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"746\" data-end=\"791\">The investigation focuses on three key areas:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"1070\">\n<li data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"890\">\n<p data-start=\"795\" data-end=\"890\">mechanisms to prevent the sale of prohibited items, such as child-like sex dolls and weapons;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"891\" data-end=\"989\">\n<p data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"989\">the platform\u2019s \u201caddictive\u201d design, where interface elements may encourage compulsive behavior;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"990\" data-end=\"1070\">\n<p data-start=\"992\" data-end=\"1070\">recommendation algorithms that may overwhelm consumers with commercial offers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1072\" data-end=\"1182\">Officials in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Brussels<\/span><\/span> said the company is cooperating with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1361\">The launch of the probe does not automatically imply a ban on Shein\u2019s operations.
