{"id":151142,"date":"2026-02-18T15:00:28","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T13:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/?post_type=news&#038;p=151142"},"modified":"2026-02-15T00:14:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T22:14:11","slug":"zovnishnij-derzhborg-rf-syagnuv-rekordnoyi-poznachky","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/news\/novosti\/zovnishnij-derzhborg-rf-syagnuv-rekordnoyi-poznachky\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia\u2019s External Public Debt Reaches Record Level"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"95\" data-end=\"345\">Russia\u2019s external government debt reached $61.97 billion as of February 1, 2026, the highest figure in the past 20 years, according to data from the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ministry of Finance of Russia<\/span><\/span>, reported by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">The Moscow Times<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"347\" data-end=\"528\">As of January 1, 2006, Russia\u2019s external public debt stood at $76.5 billion, but by 2007 it had fallen to $52 billion and in the following years did not exceed the $60 billion mark.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"530\" data-end=\"855\">Meanwhile, the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Bank of Russia<\/span><\/span> estimated the country\u2019s total external debt at $319.8 billion as of January 1, 2026. According to the regulator, it increased by $30 billion over the year, or 10.4%, driven by the revaluation of liabilities due to the strengthening ruble, as well as new borrowing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"857\" data-end=\"1042\">In addition to external debt, the Russian government also carries significant domestic debt. Between 2023 and 2025, it rose by 13 trillion rubles, reaching 38.5 trillion rubles.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1317\">Authorities plan to borrow an additional 3.98 trillion rubles in 2026, 3.79 trillion in 2027, and 4.57 trillion in 2028.
