The buyer is the U.S. investment fund Carlyle, the company\u2019s press service reported.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"251\" data-end=\"492\">The parties have signed an agreement concerning Lukoil\u2019s subsidiary, LUKOIL International GmbH. The deal does not affect assets in Kazakhstan, which will remain under the group\u2019s ownership and continue operating under their current licenses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"494\" data-end=\"610\">\u201cThe agreement is not exclusive and is subject to the fulfillment of a number of conditions precedent,\u201d Lukoil said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"612\" data-end=\"776\">The transaction must be approved by the U.S. Treasury\u2019s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Lukoil is also continuing negotiations with other potential buyers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"778\" data-end=\"1005\">Carlyle is one of the largest U.S. private equity investment funds, managing $474 billion in assets. Its head of energy strategy is Jeff Currie, who for many years served as Global Head of Commodities Research at Goldman Sachs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1007\" data-end=\"1401\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Lukoil produces about 2% of the world\u2019s oil, with roughly 0.5% coming from its international assets. The company owns three oil refineries in Europe, stakes in fields in Ghana, Egypt, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Mexico, and Uzbekistan, as well as hundreds of filling stations worldwide, including in the United States.
