This was reported by a former top executive of one of Russia\u2019s energy companies in comments to the Financial Times.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"385\" data-end=\"699\">The average export price of Russia\u2019s Urals crude fell to $39 in December \u2014 its lowest level since the pandemic \u2014 and slipped slightly further in January, to $34\u201336 in mid-month and $36\u201338 by the end of the month. Discounts on Russian oil exceeded $25 per barrel, and for some cargoes reached nearly $40 per barrel.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"701\" data-end=\"958\">India is increasingly reducing its purchases of Russian crude as it diversifies its imports. According to Bloomberg estimates, average daily shipments to Indian ports fell in December to around 1.2 million barrels, the lowest level in more than three years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"960\" data-end=\"1135\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">On January 21, a European Union ban came into force on imports of petroleum products made from Russian oil.
