This includes almost 330,000 Instagram accounts, 173,000 Facebook accounts, and nearly 40,000 Threads accounts, according to Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"402\" data-end=\"663\">The law, which came into effect on December 10, requires platforms such as TikTok and Instagram to prevent users under 16 from accessing their services. Violations can result in fines of up to 49.5 million Australian dollars (about $33 million).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"833\">Australia has become the first democratic country in the world to introduce such stringent measures amid growing concerns about the harmful effects of social media.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"835\" data-end=\"1052\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Meta continues to oppose the ban.
