{"id":150851,"date":"2025-12-19T14:00:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T12:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/?post_type=news&#038;p=150851"},"modified":"2025-12-19T13:50:57","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T11:50:57","slug":"tiktok-prodav-pidrozdil-v-ssha-amerykanskym-investoram","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/news\/tiktok-prodav-pidrozdil-v-ssha-amerykanskym-investoram\/","title":{"rendered":"TikTok sold its U.S. division to American investors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"57\" data-end=\"178\">Chinese company ByteDance has agreed to sell TikTok\u2019s U.S. division to investors from the United States, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"180\" data-end=\"452\">It is noted that ByteDance has entered into a binding agreement to establish a joint venture to manage TikTok in the U.S. In this way, the company is effectively transferring control of the social network\u2019s American division to a group of U.S. and international investors.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"454\" data-end=\"764\">The new structure \u2014 TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC \u2014 will be controlled by U.S. investors and their partners, who will collectively receive a 80.1% stake. ByteDance will retain a minority stake of 19.9%. The largest investors will be Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX, which together will own 45% of the company.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"766\" data-end=\"1127\">The deal is expected to be fully closed on January 22, 2026. It is intended to address Washington\u2019s national security concerns and avoid a ban on TikTok in the U.S. The joint venture will be established as an independent legal entity and will take responsibility for protecting U.S. users\u2019 data, overseeing algorithms, content moderation, and software security.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1420\">The investor group will be led by Oracle Executive Chairman Larry Ellison. Technically, this will be a new application that users will need to download again. It will have an identical interface but will operate on U.S.-based infrastructure with algorithms controlled by the U.S. government.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1564\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Americans\u2019 personal data will be stored in Oracle data centers located in Texas.
