After discontinuing the Ka, Fiesta, Focus, and Mondeo, the American brand was left without mass-market models and has been forced to look for partners. As Motor1 reports, Ford is now moving to a new stage of cooperation \u2014 its future electric vehicles for Europe will be engineered and produced by Renault at factories in northern France.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"881\">The company already had a partnership with Volkswagen, creating the Explorer and Capri using the ID.4 and ID.5 platforms. But the next generation of models will be entirely \u201cFrench\u201d in terms of engineering.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"883\" data-end=\"1254\">According to the plan, Renault will develop two models for Ford on the Ampere platform. The first electric vehicle will debut in early 2028. Both cars will be compact, as they will be based on the AmpR Small or AmpR Medium architectures \u2014 the same ones used for the Renault 5, Renault 4, Alpine A290, the electric Megane and Scenic, as well as the Nissan Micra and Ariya.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1256\" data-end=\"1577\">Ford promises that despite their French \u201ccore,\u201d the vehicles will retain \u201ctrue brand DNA\u201d and be noticeably different from Renault models. This suggests deeper customization than with the Micra, which is essentially a rebadged Renault 5. Logically, one model will be a hatchback, the other \u2014 a compact electric crossover.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1579\" data-end=\"1849\">However, these new models will not be direct successors to the classic Ka, Fiesta, Focus, or Mondeo \u2014 those were gasoline-powered, while the new ones will be fully electric and therefore more expensive.
