Instead of the standard tariff, the company proposes introducing an import quota and a minimum price mechanism.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"352\" data-end=\"762\">The request was submitted by Volkswagen Anhui \u2014 a joint venture between VW and China\u2019s JAC that produces the Cupra Tavascan electric crossover. The company says current tariffs pose a \u201cserious threat\u201d to its business. If Brussels supports the proposal, the Tavascan could be exempt from the 20.7% tariff within the next few months. However, it remains unclear whether VW\u2019s arguments will convince EU officials.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"1034\">Currently, imports of electric vehicles from China to the EU face significant taxes. In addition to the base 10% duty, an anti-dumping tariff is applied \u2014 20.7% for VW.
