This includes the Russian oil giant Lukoil, which is under sanctions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"555\" data-end=\"653\">However, implementing these new powers will require prior approval from Romania\u2019s Defense Council.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"655\" data-end=\"797\">Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that in December the government will decide whether to also take control of Lukoil\u2019s Romanian gas stations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"799\" data-end=\"923\">Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan noted that three companies are in talks with Lukoil regarding a possible purchase of its assets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1287\">Lukoil owns 320 gas stations in Romania, operates the country\u2019s third-largest oil refinery, and holds exploration rights in the Trident sector of the Black Sea. Currently, Lukoil has an 85% stake in the Trident and Est Rapsodia blocks, while the state gas company Romgaz holds a minority stake.
