It was discovered that some of these wheels may have left the factory without five steel bushings in the mounting holes, which could lead to the loosening of the lug nuts. In the worst case, this defect could cause the wheel to completely detach, creating a serious accident risk.

Honda’s investigation found that the problem stemmed from a manufacturing error at the supplier’s plant in Italy. During the installation of new equipment, a barrier separating finished wheels from unfinished ones was temporarily removed, which resulted in some unverified wheels being shipped to customers. According to Honda, the supplier ceased operations in 2023.

Although the recall covers a broad production period for the Civic, the defective wheels were manufactured only between December 2018 and December 2019.

At service centers, dealers will inspect all four wheels for the presence of bushings and replace the wheels and suspension components if necessary. Any defective wheels will be destroyed by drilling two holes into them to prevent reuse.

The company acknowledges that tracking down all affected vehicles may be challenging, as many Civic owners buy or sell wheels separately, and some cars are no longer serviced by authorized dealers.

[9
["post-150556","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti
["GET
