From January to October this year, Gazprom supplied European customers with 14.7 billion cubic meters of gas, according to Reuters estimates based on data from the TurkStream pipeline.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"350\" data-end=\"537\">Compared to the same period in 2024 (26.6 billion cubic meters), exports to Europe have plunged by another 45% following the termination of the gas transit contract through Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"791\">At the current pace, Russia\u2019s gas exports to the EU are projected to reach around 18 billion cubic meters for the year \u2014 the lowest level since the early 1970s, when Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev signed the first gas supply deal with Austria.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"905\">In 1975, Europe received 19.3 bcm of Russian gas; by 1980 \u2014 54.8 bcm; and by the early 1990s \u2014 around 110 bcm.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"1055\">The record was set in 2018\u20132019, when Gazprom exported 170\u2013180 bcm of gas to European countries \u2014 about 80% of all its overseas sales.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1147\">Since then, volumes have fallen tenfold, making Gazprom\u2019s gas business unprofitable.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1149\" data-end=\"1369\">Last year, gas production and sales resulted in a net loss of 1.076 trillion rubles for Gazprom \u2014 equivalent to 20.6 billion rubles per week, 2.94 billion rubles per day, or 122 million rubles per hour.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1371\" data-end=\"1537\">According to analysts from the Russian Academy of Sciences\u2019 Institute for Energy Research, Gazprom could theoretically export up to 500 bcm of gas annually.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1539\" data-end=\"1769\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">However, last year it managed to export only 81 bcm, and this year \u2014 even with the Power of Siberia pipeline operating at full capacity \u2014 exports are expected to fall further, to 78 bcm, according to BCS forecasts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":150527,"menu_order":0,"template":"","newscat":[9],"newstag":[],"issues":[],"class_list":["post-150526","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/150526","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/150527"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=150526"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"newscat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/newscat?post=150526"},{"taxonomy":"newstag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/newstag?post=150526"},{"taxonomy":"issues","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/issues?post=150526"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
