Tesla has announced the strongest quarterly sales results in its history, delivering 497,099 vehicles over the past three months. According to Notebookcheck, this figure represents a 29% increase compared to the second quarter and a 7% rise year-over-year. The surge in demand was largely driven by U.S. buyers rushing to take advantage of the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles, which recently expired.<\/p>\n
Other automakers experienced similar growth: according to projections by Cox Automotive, EVs accounted for a record 10% of all vehicle sales in the U.S. during the quarter. For Tesla, this rebound is particularly significant, as the company had previously been at risk of reporting a second consecutive quarterly decline in global deliveries \u2014 a trend that had already been weighing on profitability.<\/p>\n
However, challenges remain. Tesla has not introduced any truly new models in quite some time, and the Cybertruck has proven to be a commercial disappointment. While Tesla could still surpass last year\u2019s total sales, doing so would require an exceptionally strong fourth quarter.
