According to the Financial Times, the companies have received formal requests under the Digital Services Act (DSA). Booking Holdings, the parent company of Booking.com and other travel services, has also received a similar request.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"488\" data-end=\"843\">The European Commission aims to assess how effectively Apple and Google are preventing fraudulent banking apps from appearing in their app marketplaces. In the case of Google and Microsoft, the focus is on fake search results that may facilitate financial scams. For Booking, the review will examine how the company addresses fraudulent rental listings.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"1105\">\u201cWe are seeing more and more criminal activity taking place online. We must ensure that digital platforms are truly doing everything they can to detect and prevent the spread of such illegal content,\u201d said EU Commissioner for Digital Affairs Henna Virkkunen.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1107\" data-end=\"1297\">If the companies are found to be failing to comply with DSA requirements, they could face formal investigations.
