{"id":150279,"date":"2025-09-17T15:00:21","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T12:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/?post_type=news&#038;p=150279"},"modified":"2025-09-13T17:25:36","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T14:25:36","slug":"ugorshhyna-pidpysala-gazovu-ugodu-z-shell-na-10-rokiv","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/ldaily.ua\/en\/news\/novosti\/ugorshhyna-pidpysala-gazovu-ugodu-z-shell-na-10-rokiv\/","title":{"rendered":"Hungary signs 10-year gas deal with Shell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"45\" data-end=\"150\">Hungary has signed a 10-year agreement with UK-based Shell for natural gas supplies, Bloomberg reports.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"152\" data-end=\"346\">The deal marks one of Budapest\u2019s first steps toward diversifying its energy sources and reducing dependence on Russian supplies, as the EU deadline for phasing out Russian energy draws closer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"348\" data-end=\"527\">Under the agreement, Hungary will receive 2 billion cubic meters of gas annually starting in 2026, Foreign Minister P\u00e9ter Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 announced at the Gastech conference in Milan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"529\" data-end=\"634\">According to him, the supplies will reach Hungary via pipelines through the Czech Republic and Germany.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"767\">\u201cWe are also negotiating several other contracts with Western suppliers, but are not ready to announce them yet,\u201d Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"769\" data-end=\"944\">Currently, Hungary has a contract with Russia\u2019s Gazprom for 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year until 2036, which was supplemented with additional purchases after 2022.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"1239\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 also noted that Hungary\u2019s nuclear ambitions include doubling its atomic capacity by adding two new reactors.
