Shipments of Chinese goods to Russia fell by 16.4%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"373\" data-end=\"549\">Overall bilateral trade dropped nearly 9%, to 1.03 trillion yuan ($145 billion). Russian exports to China decreased by 8.8%, while Chinese exports to Russia declined by 8.2%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"551\" data-end=\"822\">Although detailed eight-month customs data is not yet available, experts from the Gaidar Institute wrote that China has cut purchases of almost all categories of Russian raw materials: oil \u2014 down 11%, oil products \u2014 down 28%, LNG \u2014 down 13%, timber and coal \u2014 down 10%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"824\" data-end=\"923\">The downturn in trade with Russia\u2019s main partner has raised concern in the Kremlin, sources said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1125\">Increasing China\u2019s purchases of Russian raw materials was among the main topics of Vladimir Putin\u2019s visit from September 3 to 6. However, the Russian president failed to secure major new agreements.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1447\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Putin did reach a deal to boost gas supplies to China starting in 2031 via existing pipelines (Power of Siberia and the Far Eastern route).
