District Judge Amit Mehta ruled that the company is not required to sell the Chrome browser and Android operating system. Instead, Google must share some data with competitors to increase competition in the search market. This was reported by Reuters.

It is noted that shares in parent company Alphabet rose 7.2% after the decision was published. Investors reacted positively to the news, as Google will also be able to continue making multi-billion dollar payments to Apple, which have been criticised by antitrust authorities. Apple shares rose 3% in value.

The court believes that Google’s competition is being intensified by companies working with artificial intelligence.

‘Here, the court is being asked to look into a crystal ball and see into the future. This is not exactly the judge’s strong suit,’ the judge said.

According to him, the growing popularity of ChatGPT and other solutions shows that AI companies are better able to compete with Google than traditional search engine developers. The judge emphasised that with the emergence of new technologies, there is no need to demand the sale of Chrome or Android.

Reportedly, transferring data to competitors will be a challenge for Google, but retaining key products has allayed investor concerns.

According to experts, this decision opens up new opportunities for the development of chatbots and AI search engines. Users will gradually get used to the new services, so the risk to Google is not immediate.

The court also allowed Google to continue paying Apple and other device manufacturers for using its search engine as the default. According to Morgan Stanley analysts, Apple’s payments amount to $20 billion per year.

The court believes that in the context of the growth of AI solutions, a ban on these payments is not necessary. At the same time, Google has lost the right to enter into exclusive contracts that prevented the installation of competitors’ applications.

[9
31529,31527,31528

post-150230","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti","newstag-companynewsbusinessnewscorporateupdatesleadershipchangesmergersandacquisitionsmarketmovements","newstag-novynykompanijbiznesnovynyrynkytransformacziyabiznesu","newstag-novostykompanyjbyznesnovostykorporatyvnenovostysmenarukovodstvaslyyanyyaypogloshhenyyarnkyykompanyy
["GET
