The company will now focus solely on research and development, as large-scale battery manufacturing proved economically unfeasible.

Its subsidiary Cellforce Group, originally created to launch mass battery production, will shift its focus and operate exclusively as a research unit. Some of its specialists will move to PowerCo, part of the Volkswagen Group, which will remain unaffected by Porsche’s decision.

The main reason for the move is the lack of economies of scale. Despite the brand’s popularity, Porsche cannot compete with mass-market automakers that produce hundreds of thousands of cars, thereby reducing battery costs. In addition, weak sales in the U.S. and China prevent the company from relying on sustainable growth in these markets.

At the same time, Porsche emphasizes that it is not abandoning electric vehicles altogether. The company intends to continue expanding its EV lineup while maintaining parallel production of hybrids and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

Porsche has not set a deadline for phasing out combustion engines entirely. All core model categories — sports cars, sedans, and SUVs — will continue to be offered with three types of powertrains.

As of the first half of 2025, 57% of Porsche cars sold in Europe were electrified, while globally the figure stood at 36% (including hybrids).

[9
31529,31527,31528

post-150186","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti","newstag-companynewsbusinessnewscorporateupdatesleadershipchangesmergersandacquisitionsmarketmovements","newstag-novynykompanijbiznesnovynyrynkytransformacziyabiznesu","newstag-novostykompanyjbyznesnovostykorporatyvnenovostysmenarukovodstvaslyyanyyaypogloshhenyyarnkyykompanyy
["GET
