Jaguar Land Rover is preparing for a leadership transition as Chief Executive Officer Adrian Mardell has announced his resignation after three years at the helm and 35 years with the company.<\/p>\n
JLR confirmed the departure: \u201cAdrian Mardell has expressed his intention to retire after three years as CEO and 35 years with the company. His successor will be announced in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mardell took over as CEO in 2023 following the unexpected resignation of Thierry Bollor\u00e9. At the time, the company was grappling with financial losses and the aftermath of the pandemic. Under Mardell\u2019s leadership, JLR achieved a sharp financial turnaround, driven by strong demand for high-margin models like the Defender and Range Rover. Last year, the company reported its highest profits in a decade and is on track to reach an operating margin of 10% in 2025.<\/p>\n
In addition to financial recovery, Mardell introduced a new organizational structure known as the \u201cHouse of Brands,\u201d positioning Jaguar, Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery as distinct marques with their own identities and strategies. One of Mardell\u2019s boldest moves was the radical rebranding of Jaguar.<\/p>\n
With his approval, the company decided to completely reposition Jaguar\u2014from a BMW rival to a luxury electric brand aiming to compete with Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
