Italy suspects that Meta abused its dominant position in the messaging market by pre-installing the AI function without obtaining users\u2019 consent, according to <em data-start=\"363\" data-end=\"373\">Euractiv<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"376\" data-end=\"501\">On Tuesday, July 29, antitrust officials, accompanied by financial police experts, conducted a raid at Meta\u2019s Italian branch.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"503\" data-end=\"607\">A Meta spokesperson stated that the company is \u201cfully cooperating with the Italian antitrust authority.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"772\">\n<p data-start=\"611\" data-end=\"772\">\u201cProviding free access to our AI features in WhatsApp gives millions of Italians the opportunity to use AI in a space they already know,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"774\" data-end=\"996\">Meta claims that using AI is entirely optional.
