Apple has filed a lawsuit against well-known tech blogger and insider John Prosser, accusing him of disclosing trade secrets related to iOS 26, The Verge reports. According to the case documents, Prosser allegedly arranged access to the official iPhone of one of Apple’s engineers to obtain data on the then unreleased version of the operating system.<\/p>\n
According to Apple, Prosser offered Mike Ramacciotti, an acquaintance of Ethan Lipnick, a friend of the company’s employee, money or a job opportunity in exchange for access to the company’s iPhone. Ramacciotti learned the device’s lock code, tracked Lipnick’s whereabouts, waited until he was out of the house, and gained access to the device, which was running an internal testing version of iOS.<\/p>\n
Apple claims that as a result, Prosser saw the interface of the development build via video link, recorded a video, shared it with third parties, and used this material to create renders and leaks.<\/p>\n
In April, Apple received an anonymous letter from a person who claimed to have seen the recording of Prosser’s video call and recognised Lipnyk’s apartment. The company also provided the court with a voice message in which Ramacciotti apologised to Lipnick and claimed that the idea was Prosser’s. Following the incident, Lipnick was fired for violating Apple’s security policy on unreleased products.<\/p>\n
Apple is seeking an injunction against further disclosure of confidential information by Prosser, as well as compensation for damages.
