This was announced by the company&#8217;s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, according to the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zuckerberg, Meta is \u2018investing hundreds of billions of dollars &#8230; in creating \u201csuperintelligence,\u201d\u2019 and that these data centres have been given \u2018names that reflect their scale and impact.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the first multi-gigawatt data centre, called Prometheus, is expected to be operational in 2026. One of the facilities will cover an area almost the size of Manhattan (59.1 square kilometres).<\/p>\n<p>Meta has reportedly invested heavily in the development of \u2018superintelligence\u2019 \u2014 a technology that could surpass the smartest humans.
