This was announced on Wednesday, September 1, the chairman of the board of Google France Sebastien Missoff.

“We do not agree with some legal nuances and consider the amount of the fine inappropriate compared to the efforts we have made to reach an agreement (with news companies. – Ed.) and compliance with the new law,” – said in a statement the top manager.

Earlier this year, the French Antimonopoly Office reportedly fined Google Internet company 500 million euros for copyright infringement by French media and news outlets. It is a dispute over the aggregation of media headlines and fragments of their publications in the Google News service.

This is the largest fine ever imposed by the French antitrust authority.

In April 2020, the French antitrust regulator ordered Google to negotiate a fee for the use of copyrighted content. The so-called “related rights” rules are designed to ensure that news publishers are compensated when their content is displayed on websites, search engines and social networking platforms.

These are news, photos and videos of the media, which are shown on Google or YouTube. Media companies have claimed that by making money from content through advertising, Google does not pay them to use it.

In addition to the fine, the French regulator ordered Google to offer publishers and news agencies payment for the use of their content within two months of the event, and to inform the regulator itself. If this is not done, the Internet company will face a fine of up to 900 thousand euros per day. Google expressed “great disappointment” in connection with this punishment.

[9
["post-130445","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti
["GET
