The Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on Wednesday, August 4, approved an energy security strategy.<\/p>\n
During the presentation of the document, Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said that the strategy identifies, in particular, 29 threats to energy security, the key of which are cyber threats, Russian aggression, depreciation of fixed assets, lack of energy reserves, the impact of climate change on the structure and regimes of energy consumption. competition in the markets, staffing of the industry and the development of scientific and technical potential.<\/p>\n
Based on this, three key scenarios have been identified under which the energy sector can develop depending on threats: no change, unfriendly influence and positive transformation.<\/p>\n
Thus, the first involves, in particular, the preservation of current trends in the formation and implementation of energy policy, as well as the principles of functioning of energy markets.<\/p>\n
The second is envisaged in case of increasing Russia’s external influence in order to gain control over Ukraine’s energy policy.<\/p>\n
The third scenario is aimed at the priority development of the country in terms of the irreversibility of its European and Euro-Atlantic course.<\/p>\n
The main goals of the strategy are the availability of energy resources for consumers, the sustainability of the energy sector and its economic efficiency, the environmentally friendly impact of energy on the environment, as well as the integration of the sector into the EU.<\/p>\n
