The methods by which Kyiv hopes to prevent the launch of the gas pipeline were revealed by the head of Naftogaz Yuriy Vitrenko in an interview with Radio Svoboda.

“The battle is lost, but the war is not lost. And our” war “against Nord Stream-2 continues,” Vitrenko said.

According to him, Ukraine will not affect the fact that the pipeline will be completed, but it can be done so that it is not certified.

“This is possible if we prove that the pipeline company is controlled by Russia’s Gazprom and Russian President Vladimir Putin. European law prohibits one person or group of people from controlling gas production and transportation,” the head of Naftogaz said.

He said the foreign ministry had sent notes to the European Commission calling for the “so-called principle of solidarity” to be taken into account.

“If (and this is a phantasmagoric scenario) the Nord Stream-2 operator is separated from Gazprom, … then the German regulator and the European Commission must provide third party access to all gas pipelines going from Russia to Europe, in particular, from Ukraine,” he explained. Vitrenko.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s candidate for Chancellor Armin Lachet threatened Russia with sanctions if it used pressure on Ukraine through the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.

Agreement between Germany and the United States on the Russian gas pipeline

On July 21, the United States and Germany reached an agreement on Nord Stream-2. It stipulates that Washington is renouncing its intention to impose sanctions on project participants, but the possibility of EU sanctions on Moscow remains if Russia uses the pipeline as an instrument of energy pressure.

The agreement also states the intention to maintain gas transit through Ukraine. Germany promises to use all the levers to persuade Russia to extend the agreement on gas transit through Ukraine, which should end at the end of 2024.

[9
["post-129926","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti
["GET
