The US Federal Reserve maintained the base interest rate at 0-0.25%, as expected by the market. This is stated in the message of the financial regulator following a meeting of its leadership.<\/p>\n
“The Committee has decided to keep the target rate range for federal funds at 0-0.25% and considers it appropriate to maintain this range until labor market conditions reach levels consistent with estimates of maximum employment, and inflation growth – the target of 2%, “- said in the statement.<\/p>\n
In addition to maintaining the rate at the current level, in the coming months, the Fed plans to continue buying treasury bonds for at least $ 80 billion a month, as well as securities secured by collateral (MBS), at least $ 40 billion a month, until significant progress is made in maximum employment and price stability.<\/p>\n
The Fed also raised its forecast for GDP growth in 2021 to 7% from 6.5%. The economic growth forecast for 2022 was maintained at 3.3%. According to the results of 2023, it is expected to grow by 2.4% against the previously projected 2.2%.<\/p>\n
The US regulator also improved the unemployment forecast for 2022 to 3.8% from 3.9%. In 2021, the unemployment rate is expected to be around 4.5%, in 2023 – 3.5%.<\/p>\n
