During a visit to Washington, the head of Naftogaz Yuri Vitrenko commented on searches of the company in the case of non-payment of VAT for 2.7 billion hryvnias for Russian gas.<\/p>\n
“On the one hand, the State Fiscal Service constantly checks Naftogaz. That is, there is nothing surprising in the fact that there is another inspection of certain issues. On the other hand, indeed, in this way (searches – ed.) Looks relatively unusual,” he said.<\/p>\n
According to his subordinates in Kyiv, the SFS believes that the company was not open enough in the past, did not provide the necessary documents and explanations.<\/p>\n
“This time I will personally ensure maximum openness so that we provide all the necessary documents and explanations. I hope that in this open way we will make sure that there are no problems with an objective investigation of this particular situation, and in the future, so that there is no distrust in the company’s activities, “Vitrenko said.<\/p>\n
He stressed the importance of no one using any political speculation around Naftogaz as an excuse, such as further construction of Nord Stream 2, or an excuse for deprivatization.<\/p>\n
According to Vitrenko, it is also important to prevent the “blackout” of the Ukrainian issue in relations with the United States by political speculation about Naftogaz.<\/p>\n
