Ukrzaliznytsia has signed a memorandum on cooperation and localization in Ukraine of passenger rolling stock production by the Swiss company Stadler CIS AG. The press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure reports.<\/p>\n
According to the document, the parties will work together to develop passenger rail transport in Ukraine and attract funding. In addition, if Stadler CIS AG wins one of the tenders and receives an order to supply rolling stock for Ukrzaliznytsia, the company plans to consider localizing production in Ukraine.<\/p>\n
“We are interested in cooperating with global manufacturers of railway rolling stock, which have proven themselves in other railways around the world, including on the wide gauge. One such potential partner is Stadler, which supplied rolling stock for the Belarusian railway. But our main condition for such a partnership is the same – the localization of production in Ukraine. After all, this is the attraction of additional funds to the economy and the development of heavy industry in our country, “said the head of UZ Ivan Yuryk.<\/p>\n
According to him, Stadler trains can be used in suburban and regional passenger traffic, as well as in City Express projects.<\/p>\n
“This year, Ukraine’s railway industry has received maximum budget support for the renewal of passenger rolling stock – the purchase of about 100 passenger cars and modernization of railway infrastructure.
