The coronavirus pandemic has allowed Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies to enter new world markets – the EU and Asia. The head of the board of Darnitsa Group Dmitry Shymkov in an interview stated this with the executive director of the European Business Association Anna Derevyanko.<\/p>\n
In particular, the shortage of medicines arose due to the fact that India, which is one of the main suppliers of raw materials and medicines to EU countries, closed the border with Georgia and restricted exports.<\/p>\n
Shymkiv notes that the pandemic did not have such an effect on the Ukrainian pharmaceutical market, as domestic companies managed to reorient resources in time to meet the needs of Ukrainians.<\/p>\n
Moreover, this situation has enabled Darnytsia and other Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies to develop exports to the European Union.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Shymkiv notes that in order to remove barriers, it is necessary to make changes to the free trade agreement.<\/p>\n
“So far, this is a situational story for Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies. But it has opened up new opportunities for us. That is why the Ukrainian pharmaceutical industry has taken the initiative to promote the idea of \u200b\u200binclusion in the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) between Ukraine and the European Union on the issue of mutual recognition of GMP certificates, which for some reason did not get into the current version of DCFTA, “said Shymkiv.<\/p>\n
He clarified that this will significantly speed up the process of exporting Ukrainian pharmaceutical products to European markets.<\/p>\n
“The quality of Ukrainian medicines meets all European standards because the requirements set out in the standards for Ukrainian production fully meet European requirements. And many people who come to Ukraine see our production, our approaches – they agree that it is European, it is world level “, – the Darnitsa Group head of the board of directors emphasized.<\/p>\n
Shymkov believes that this issue can be resolved within a few years.<\/p>\n
In addition, he believes that Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers can compete with Indian and Chinese in the Asian market.<\/p>\n
“For example, last year we launched 10 new products, one of which was just completing a line of two- and three-component hypertensive drugs.
