This is stated in the Facebook report on the incident.

It is noted that the attackers stole data for the period up to September 2019. At the same time, they could use automated software to collect publicly available information from the Internet, which, in the end, was published on an online forum.

“We are confident that this particular problem that allowed them to steal data in 2019 no longer exists. We believe that the data was removed from people’s Facebook profiles by attackers using our contact importer. This feature was designed to help people easily find their friends, who can be contacted in our services using their contact lists, “the company explained.

Facebook claims to have stepped up the importer as soon as it learned of its use by attackers who used software to simulate the social network application. The initial functionality allowed you to set a set of user profiles and get some information about those of them who have public accounts. However, the attackers could not obtain health information, finances or passwords.

[9
["post-128064","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","newscat-novosti
["GET
