The American company Pfizer and the German BioNTech announced that their vaccine against COVID-19 is 91.3% effective for at least six months after the second dose of the drug.<\/p>\n
“Pfizer and BioNTech today announced updated results of an analysis of 927 confirmed symptoms of COVID-19, which were monitored in a key third phase of the study,” according to a press release issued by Pfizer.<\/p>\n

The document notes that the vaccine has also been shown to be 100% effective against the South African strain of coronavirus.<\/p>\n
“These data confirm the efficacy and safety of our vaccine and allow us to apply to the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) for a biological license,” said Pfizer chief Albert Burla.<\/p>\n
The analysis of the third phase of clinical trials of the drug was conducted in accordance with the FDA recommendations for all companies that study coronavirus vaccines to study safety and efficacy issues. The analysis is based on the results of tests involving 46,300 people. For six months after the second dose, people did not experience any safety concerns with the vaccine. The day before, the companies reported that their vaccine had shown 100% effectiveness in preventing infection in adolescents aged 12-15 years. BioNTech added that the companies are also conducting clinical trials of the vaccine among children aged 6 months to 11 years. Last week, the vaccines began to be tested on a group of children aged 5 to 11 years.
