Elon Mask’s company has applied to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for permission to connect cars, trucks, cargo ships and aircraft to its network of fast-growing Starlink Internet satellites. This is what Verge says.<\/p>\n
The completed document states that SpaceX is requesting a comprehensive license to operate Starlink terminals on so-called “mobile ground stations, which include cars, trucks, ships and aircraft.”<\/p>\n
“Users no longer want to refuse from connection on the road, whether while driving a truck on the highway, on a cargo ship from Europe to a US port or during a domestic or international flight,” the document said.<\/p>\n
The document does not specify what the technical characteristics of antennas for transport will be, but says that they are “electrically identical to previously approved for terminals users, but with mountings to be installed on cars, ships and aircraft.”<\/p>\n
“Mobile antennas can be mounted on ship masts or roofs of semi-trailers, as well as on passenger cars and pleasure boats,” said SpaceX officials.<\/p>\n
Now the constellation of Starlink satellites has more than 1000 devices, and the number of users of the service is approaching 30 thousand.<\/p>\n
Starlink is primarily intended for rural residents with poor internet connection. The set of equipment costs $ 499 and plus a $ 99 subscription fee per month.
