The announcement was published on the BioNTech website.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On Monday, November 30, Pfizer and BioNTech filed a formal application with the European Medicines Agency for a conditional authorization to use their COVID-19 candidate vaccine BNT162b2,&#8221; the companies said in a joint statement.<\/p>\n<p>If the EU Medicines Agency decides that the benefits of a candidate vaccine outweigh the risks, it recommends the drug to be authorized. This will allow to start using the drug in Europe by the end of 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg and the Financial Times reported that the UK could be the first country to approve a coronavirus vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNtech.
