The Guardian reported that Sun Cable has announced the construction of the world’s largest solar panel power plant worth $ 20 billion. It will be located between the Australian cities of Darwin and Alice Springs, and its capacity will be 10 GW.<\/p>\n
The project plan has already been submitted to the Environmental Protection Office of the Northern Territory and is awaiting approval. If approved, Sun Cable will begin construction in 2023, the station will be operational by early 2026, and electricity supplies to Singapore are scheduled for 2027.<\/p>\n
According to Sun Cable CEO David Griffin, by the time construction is complete, the power plant will be visible to the unaided eye.<\/p>\n
“The location for the station was chosen not by chance – a solar farm will be built near the railway station and 30 kilometers from the highway, which will simplify the solution of logistics problems,” says Griffin.<\/p>\n
It is planned that one third of the electricity generated will be used in Darwin’s power system. The remaining two-thirds of the electricity will be exported to Singapore by submarine high-voltage cables. So the Newcastle Waters solar farm will be able to provide almost one-fifth of Singapore’s electricity needs.<\/p>\n
