Now the number of billionaires has increased to 2,189 thousand compared to 2,158 thousand in 2017.<\/p>\n
According to the report, at the beginning of April 2020, there were 2.058 thousand billionaires in the world (43 less than a year earlier), whose acquired wealth amounted to $ 8 trillion ($ 564 billion lower than a year earlier).<\/p>\n
“As this is the exceptional year, we have decided to further expand the scope of our study and go beyond the standard time frame of analysis to take into account the recovery of the stock market after the crash caused by COVID-19 in March 2020,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
It is noted that the richest people from March to June spent more to fight the pandemic than ever before. More than 200 billionaires have publicly announced the allocation of the total of more than $ 7.2 billion, including financial donations ($ 5.5 billion), as well as industrial goods and equipment.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the fortunes of the American billionaires from 2009 to 2020 increased by 170% and currently amount to almost $ 3.609 trillion. In the mainland of China, the value of the assets of wealthy people soared 12.5 times – to $ 1.681 trillion.
