The American company SpaceX will launch the first Starship spacecraft into Earth orbit, most likely in 2021. It said its founder Elon Musk, speaking at a video conference on the problem of human flight to Mars, according to TASS on Tuesday, September 1.<\/p>\n
Mask was asked when the first test flight of Starship into orbit will take place, prototypes of which have not yet climbed above 150 meters.<\/p>\n
“Probably next year” – said Musk, and have not excluded, that the first Starship flights “may not work out” due to the fact that the company “operates in unknown territory.”<\/p>\n
“No one has ever made a fully reusable orbital rocket,” he added.<\/p>\n
The head of SpaceX expected that the ship intended for flights to the Red Planet should “perform hundreds of missions with satellites before flying with people on board.”<\/p>\n
“We have made a significant progress. What in reality hinders of the progress for Starship is the production system. A year ago there was nothing and now we have quite a large production capacity. That is why we are rapidly producing more and more ships, ” – said Musk.<\/p>\n
The entrepreneur considers it necessary to further “increase production” to get “hundreds or thousands” of Starship ships. He also mentioned that the company is starting production of the first prototype of the third stage of the superheavy launch vehicle for Starship “this week”.
