Zaporizhzhya Automobile Plant (ZAZ) is preparing to start mass production of buses under the Mercedes brand in 2022. Radio Svoboda reported this with reference to the UkrAVTO Corporation, which includes ZAZ.
It is noted that the ZAZ A09 bus is a completely Ukrainian creation, designed by factory engineers with the help of Mercedes recommendations “for manufacturers of buses using the engine, transmission and rear suspension of Mercedes.”
“Implementation of these recommendations allows after passing the audit of design and production to obtain permission to install the Mercedes logo on the manufactured bus,” – said in UkrAVTO.
Thus, according to the project, the vehicle is designed for 36 passengers and is designed for long-distance transportation. So far, the production of such buses is planned only for the domestic market of Ukraine.
“In the future, it is possible to export the bus to countries where Euro-5 environmental standards apply. The first experimental and industrial batch of cars will be released in September 2021,” the company said.
