The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine gave the “Gazprom” two months to pay the fine

25.02.2016 News

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine gave the The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine explained its fine to the “Gazprom” in the amount of 86 billion UAH refferint to noncompliance of contact relations from 2009 on gas transit through the Ukrainian territory by the Russian company, with the result that the “Naftogaz” lost significant incomes from the reduction of pumping volume of the fuel to the EU, states in the ministry report .

One of the ways to resolve this situation, the AMC sees the negotiations between the “Naftogaz” and the “Gazprom”, by the results of which reasonable tariffs for the transit of the natural gas through the territory of Ukraine should be set, including provisions of the treaty establishing the Energy Community.

“February 12, 2016, the Committee sent the case decision to the parties: to “Gazprom” as a defendant, and to “Naftogaz Ukraine” as a  third party” – added in the ACU.

ACU recalled that “Gazprom” has two months for the implementation of solutions.

In 2016, the Ukraine will increase three times the cost of transit of gas for “Gazprom” in the case of a failure to increase the volume of pumping.

The company “Gazprom” will have to pay Ukraine $ 6.1 billion for natural gas transit on the new tariffs against $ 2 billion in the  last year, in the case of a failure to increase pumping gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system.

December 24, 2015 the Antimonopoly Committee recognized  the “Gazprom” as a monopolist on the transit of the natural gas through Ukrainian territory and hoped to meet with the representatives of the company and provide them with evidences of their abuse of monopoly position in Ukraine.
