Problems with the supply of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the European Union are partly because the contract plant in the Netherlands has not yet delivered a single dose, the Financial Times reported on March 14.
The Leiden plant is one of the main producers of the active substance of the vaccine, along with the plant in Senefa, Belgium, the publication notes.
The Leiden plant, which is managed by a Halix subcontractor, should produce according to the plan at least five million doses and supply them to the EU.
The plant is producing vaccines, but has not yet received permission to supply them from the European Medicines Agency. To do this, AstraZeneca has not yet provided the regulator with all the necessary data, according to FT.
It should be noted that AstraZeneca vaccination has currently been stopped in nine European countries due to thrombosis in patients who have been vaccinated with it.
Earlier, the EU acknowledged omissions in the coronavirus vaccination strategy.
